| We got up really early this morning so that we could be warmed up and ready to sing for the opening prayer service of the Liturgical Music Conference in the Abbey Church. |
![]() Here we are in the Saint John's Abbey & University Church waiting for prayer to begin. |
![]() Two brothers. (Uh, not monks, but blood brothers--Christopher and Daniel Moldan from Lamberton, Minnesota.) |
| After a very nice morning prayer service we had more music rehearsal. |
![]() Here's the whole choir seen from the windows looking down into the choir room. |
![]() Dr. Franz Karl Prassl of Austria rehearsing Gregorian chant with us. |
| After some rehearsal time we had the opportunity to tour either the Reliquary Chapel in the crypt of the Abbey Church or the organs on campus. |
![]() This is the first organ we saw. It's in the Gertken Organ Studio, which is right next door to the choir room. Dr. Kim Kasling gave us the tour of this mechanical action instrument and showed us how the insides of the organ work. Then he played amazing things for us. |
![]() Some of us got to play the organ too. (Paul Engels, MN) |
![]() Here we are with Dr. Kasling in the pipes of the organ in the Abbey & University Church. This organ has almost 4,000 pipes! |
| This afternoon some of the liturgical music conference participants came to observe our rehearsal and learn conducting techniques from Dr. Theimer. |
![]() Between rehearsals some of the choristers took time to help each other relax. |
| This afternoon we went to an amazing prayer service, Evening Prayer, with the adult conference participants in the Abbey Church. Part of this service was Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. |
| This evening we went our separate ways for a while. Some of us went swimming, some rested, and some went to a great organ and choir concert in the church. Organ students of Saint John's University played, and a professional choir, Schola Cantorum from Chicago, sang. |
| We sang Compline in our separate dorms and then finished a long day. |
