| It rained again today as we gathered around the tree for prayer before breakfast. But we were all excited because today was going to be our first real performance, the Hymnfest for the Liturgical Music Conference. |
| After some more rehearsal time we met with Dr. Barbara Resch, a presenter at the Liturgical Music Conference. She is an expert in teenage preferences in music. We completed a survey for her and then discussed why we liked participating in music. |
| Then this evening we participated in Gloria Patri et Filio et Spiritui Sancto - A Hymnfest on the Trinity. There were two other choirs there, and brass and a fantastic organist. Colleen Needles, a former anchorwoman in the Twin Cities, was the commentator. The congregation REALLY sang the hymns enthusiastically. Everyone agreed that we sounded great and we got a long standing ovation from the crowd. |
| After the hymnfest we went back to the choir room where we were surprised by popcorn and pop to celebrate our first wonderful performance. There were also two monks and two sisters there to tell us about their vocations. |
![]() We learned that monks and nuns are "real people" who are a lot of fun to be around. |
![]() We had a lot of great questions and the discussion went on longer than expected. |
![]() We were all interested in what our speakers had to share with us. |
![]()
They were amused by us too... |
![]() In fact, a great time was had by all. |
| After we had laughed and eaten with (and learned a lot about) the monks and sisters, we sang Compline and then headed back to our dorms. It had been a long day and we have our first concert tomorrow evening. |
