CHORISTERS' COMMENTS from Monday morning    --  (DAILY DIARY is below)
The bus ride to Milwaukee was wonderful! I talked to Dr. Theimer, and he is very interesting.  Then I sat by [counselor] Chris [Jacobson].  He's the coolest guy I know!  -- Alejandro Manso, Kansas City, Kansas
It's worth it...the work, the singing.   -- Jon Burke, Somonauk, Illinois
NCYC rocks!  -- Corina Bernstein, Long Prairie, Minnesota
I'm having so much fun here; I honestly don't know if I even want to come home on Thursday!  -- Kim Sondag, New Ulm, Minnesota
I love the fact that we all know our music.   It makes things much easier.  Also, I can't believe it's almost over.   After seeing Marquette [dorms in Milwaukee], St. John's is AWESOME.  -- Rob Koneck-Wilcox, Omaha, Nebraska
I never used to like long bus trips, but after Milwaukee, I can hardly even wait for Duluth!  - Chris Truso, Mahtomedi, Minnesota.
I am really enjoying getting to know all these people.  The bus ride to Milwaukee was real fun, teasing the counselors and just having fun.  In Milwaukee at the church after we sang a little boy came up to one of the counselors and said, "Where did the angels come from?"  -- Theresa Tahija, Chisholm, Minnesota
Having a young child ask where the angels were singing from made this whole choir trip worth it!  -- Chris Moldan, Lamberton, Minnesota
If you want to meet some girls, this is the camp to be at.  -- Grant Nelson, Miles City, Montana
The people I have met and the experiences I have had are unforgettable.  I've had a blast.  -- Paul Engels, St. Cloud, Minnesota
I love it here, everyone is so down-to-earth and friendly.  Dr. Theimer is such a great director.  It's such a  privilege to work with him.  The counselors rock!  -- Jess VanDynHoven, Combined Locks, Wisconsin
Despite sore throats and other annoyances, the choir still sounds great.  Sleep!?  What is this 'sleep' of which you speak?   -- Laura Barrosse-Antle, Hockessin, Deleware
I'm going to my home town today [for a concert].  -- David Zbaracki, Duluth, Minnesota
Hi Mom and Dad!  Hi brother and sisters!   I'm having a blast.  I miss my girlfriend, Jill.  -- Jeff Sommerfield, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin
The tours have been so much fun so far.   -- Emily Arachtingi, Rochester, Minnesota
I LOVE this place!  -- Valerie Kostyk, Ashland, Virginia
NCYC is a great experience!  All young Catholic singers should come to this.  The sound of the final product is very much worth any sacrifice along the way.  Dr. Theimer rocks!  -- George Bagan, Waseca, Minnesota
The religion classes offer us a great opportunity to ask questions and further explore our faith.  I was really worried about people being snotty or stuck up but I soon found that everyone was friendly and ready to lend a hand.  -- Sarah Leitermann, Appleton, Wisconsin
Hi Mom!  Hi Dad!  Hello Maggie!   We're having fun here at NCYC!  Erin, Danielle and I have been rockin' Collegeville!  Can't wait to see ya!  Love,  -- Mary Beth Hart, Ankeny, Iowa
Sleep?  What's that?  Oh yeah, what you do on the bus! --  Danielle Hould, Miles City, Montana
I thought I had left all my music in Milwaukee... but I didn't.  Today is a good day! -- Katie Droske, Stevens Point, Wisconsin
By the way, I've heard nasty rumors about a phenomenon called "sleep"...kind of like getting hit on your head until you're unconscious, but there's no medication and you usually end up feeling better than when you started.  Sounds like fun; maybe I'll try it sometime...  -- Laura LeGault, Stevens Point, Wisconsin
We all love "Complain" [=Compline] by the guys.  -- Daniel Moldan, Lamberton, Minnesota
When I got here a week ago, I had no skill of sight reading, now I finally can sing a song that I've never seen before.  -- Christina Pawlowski, Minneapolis, Minnesota
Going to Wisconsin was a lot of fun.  I wish we could have done more travelling.  -- anonymous
I have fun running in the rain.  I enjoy midnight strolls...it's a shame I'm the only person who likes sleeping on the bus.   -- John Kearney, Worcester, Massachusetts
I'm so glad I got to participate in the NCYC this year!! It is such a wonderful experience and I plan to come back again next year!!   -- John Becker, Green Bay, Wisconsin
I LOVE MUSIC!  It is so beautiful here and I feel very blessed to be spending this time surrounded and filled with the glorious simplicity of music and the Catholic faith!
"What is all this juice and all this joy?
A strain of earth's sweet being in the beginning in Eden garden--
Have, get, before it cloy,
before it cloud Christ, Lord and sour with sinning."
-- Hopkins
--Amanda Dorff, Loveland, Ohio
This is an amazing experience.  I know I will never forget the people I've met or the places I've been but it has to end one day.   I just hope the memories never do.  -- Katherine Martin, Rosemont, Pennsylvania
What to say about NCYC...wow, for once I'm speechless.  Somebody write that down.  -- Emily Burkot, Bardstown, Kentucky
DAILY DIARY
Today we got to sleep in "late"--until 8 am--after our late arrival from Milwaukee last night.   We're falling into a regular routine of prayer, breakfast, rehearsals, and classes in music and religion. Today we went to Noon Prayer with the monks, a 12-minute prayer service of the Liturgy of the Hours.
After lunch, we got on the bus for Duluth in northern Minnesota.  The bus ride took about 3 hours.
We gave a concert at the Sacred Heart Music Center.  This is a former Catholic Cathedral, turned into a concert hall when a new cathedral was built.  Chorister David Zbaracki of Duluth was our tour guide as our bus drove into town.
