FACULTY:
Axel Theimer, professor of music at St. John’s University and internationally   recognized choral clinician; conductor of the National Catholic Youth Choir;

Diana Kodner, author and director of the Loyola University Choir and the Mozart Sinfonia in Chicago; national published authority on children's liturgical music and on cantoring;

Fr. Anthony Ruff, OSB, assistant professor of theology at St. John’s University and leading U.S. expert in chant performance and liturgical music.

Designed for those working with choirs of every level.  An exceptional
team provides practical skills and insight on rehearsal techniques, the role
of the choir in liturgy, improving vocal quality, and repertoire and
programming of choral music for worship. Offered in conjunction with the   
annual program of the National Catholic Youth Choir.
($190 plus housing and meals) Graduate credit available.

Presentation/Discussion:  Topics in Choral Music For Worship  (Kodner or Ruff: Literature Reading Sessions; The Liturgical Role of the Choir; Cantoring)

Observation of National Catholic Youth Choir rehearsal (Theimer)*    

11:15 AM Conducting techniques - symposium participants small group (Theimer)

1:30 PM Observation of NCYC rehearsal (Theimer)*
3:30 PM
Conducting techniques (in small groups) Theimer:
. *Qualified participants will have the opportunity to conduct the National Catholic Youth Choir in directed rehearsal laboratory
