Clothing – weather in Minnesota is, at best, unpredictable so you need to be prepared for both hot and cool weather.  We suggest bringing the following:

  • a light jacket (polartech) that can be worn in the rain

  • light sweater or sweatshirt

  • a few t-shirts (for women low-cut, spaghetti strap tops or midriff baring

  • tops or tops that reveal bra straps are not acceptable)

  • tennis shoes/sandals

  • shorts (modest – midway above the knee or longer)

  • a pair of jeans and/or khakis

Low-riding or hip-hugging pants, shorts or skirts that expose underwear and/or skin are not acceptable.

  • socks, underwear (bring enough for the entire camp), pajamas, bathrobe

  • swimsuit (for those who wish to swim – no bikinis or speedos)

  • dress shoes

  • dark (navy, black, brown) dress socks

For non-casual events we would ask that you bring a nicer pair of slacks

(ie khakis) or skirt (for the women) and a dress shirt or top.

For sports and recreation, more informal clothing is allowed.

Please Note:    The dress code will be enforced during the entirety of the camp.

What will be provided:   For concerts each member will be provided with an alb that is floor length.  Each choir member needs to bring a pair of dress shoes or dress sandals (no tennis shoes) with dark (black, brown, navy) socks or nylons for the women.

Each choir member will be provided with a t-shirt that they will wear to rehearsals and other casual events.  Free laundry facilities are available in the dorms.

Other Things – You will also need the following:

  • alarm clock

  • toiletries

  • spending money (it is not necessary but you may wish to have some for the bookstore and to buy snacks, magazines, souvenirs, etc.)

  • small fan (for those traveling by air a few fans will be available for use)

Rooms - Each dorm room has the following:  two single beds, two desks, towels, bedding, closets, dresser, telephone, and sink with medicine cabinet.  There are two bathrooms with showers on each floor of the dorms.

Room keys are checked out by each chorister upon arrival at St. John’s.  At the end of NCYC room keys must be returned to St. John’s.  If you lose your key, a key penalty of $25 will be assessed to you.

Cell Phones – Students are free to bring cell phones with them to St. John’s.  They are especially useful for those traveling by air.  Once students are on campus cell phones will be checked in with their floor counselors and then can be checked out from the counselor in accord with the camp schedule.
